In 2020, he won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Eastern European International Film Awards with the short film The Prism. Uzunmehmet then turned to directing and attracted attention with his six-episode web series DEFA, which he wrote and directed in 2021. This project was released on Amazon Prime and attracted great attention, especially in the USA.
